Hello All,
The First Wyrd Tarot Meet-up is not far away!
March 16th 1:00 PM at Oak Trail Books in Palm Harbor.
A few of you have asked some questions about the meet-up which I thought would be good to share with the group.
What is a Meet-up like?
A Meet-up is a group of like-minded individuals coming together to share in a common interest. The Wyrd Tarot Meet-up allows those interested in Tarot to come together to share, learn, and have some fun with Tarot reading.
How does a Tarot Meet-up differ from a Tarot class?
Meet-Ups:
The Wyrd Tarot Meet-up allows us to get together to share our interest in Tarot. This Meet-up does not have a required fee but we do encourage you to look over the fine decks, books, and items that Oak Trail Books has to offer for sale.
Tarot Classes:
Tarot classes are classroom orientated informational lectures with practical training, usually over a period of sessions. Classes involve a student registration fee. If you are looking for an introductory class on "Introductory Reading the Tarot" or other Tarot subjects please let Abra or I know.
Do I need to bring a Tarot deck to the meet-up?
Yes, please bring a deck if you have one. If you do not have a deck and need a deck recommendation I would get the Rider-Waite deck. This deck is the most popular in the US and is the deck that Abra and I will use to teach Tarot classes.
One of the great things with a Tarot meet-up is that you will get a chance to see other peoples decks and decide if that deck is one that you might like as well.
If you do not have a deck to bring, I will have a few for you to work with.
Will I learn how to read the cards at the meet-up?
Yes, the first meet-up will we cover a how to use a number of Three-card reading layouts. After some basic instruction we will all practice using this layout on readings for each other.
Like all new skills it does take time, knowledge, and practice to become really good at it, so meet-up practice is a great opportunity to explore.
Is reading Tarot cards all subjective interpretation/intuition or is it the academic application of the card associations and meanings?
To be a really good reader I feel that you need both approaches, for one without the other, is unbalanced and limited in application.
I have only Oracle cards, will this Tarot meet-up help me read them?
Oracle cards fall outside the standard 78 cards (22 Major cards, and 4 suits of 56 cards total) of a Tarot deck. Learning to read the Tarot will help in reading Oracle cards and will assist in other forms psychic development.
Working with and learning about Tarot in a fascinating journey. I look forward to meeting and sharing Tarot with you. Any questions please send me an e-mail.
Light,
Issac & Abra
