So everyone, what do we want as our discussion topic for the October meeting? Joann (I hope I haven't massacred your name) of the lovely Morgan Greer deck mentioned reversals. I could probably think of a bazillion things but I am not the Queen of this Party (yet). Any other ideas out there? What aspects of Tarot would be good to discuss in October? For November, if you all don't complain I'll do my BATS presentation on Death, which is somehow appropriate to the ending of the year. But, we're not quite ending the year yet. Ideas??? Time is drawing near.

OK I'm new at this but what is 'BATS' and since I originally interpretted the 'Devil' card is that I was probably going to 'the dark place' ... I'm not sure what it is she's asking for ...
I'm willing to learn but what is a BATS presentation on DEATH? otherwise? I could suggest something... The group usually runs itself, so I'll follow but what is BATS? Claire |

Sorry for the confusion. BATS is the Bay Area Tarot Symposium in San Francisco this weekend. My talk on the Death card is about the changing views of Death via the different imagery over the ages in the cards.
There has seemed to be some sort of general discussion topic to keep the group focused, but if we are not needing one this time, that's fine. Last time was reading a card without the book. The one before covered the art of asking questions. This one. . . . who knows. Any ideas. Holly |

Hello,
I am the organizer for the Austin Tarot Talkers and the San Antonio Tarot Talkers in Texas. I thought I would chime in here with some reflections of a past meetup we did in Austin. Using Mary K. Greer's book Reversals from the Special Topics in Tarot series we used Greer's 12 ways to look at reversals I made up a chart listing her 12 approaches with a column to briefly explain the approach another column to list the card you are looking at and a final column to briefly explain how you might read that card in reverse using the corresponding approach. Each person drew a card from their own deck. We used the same card for each approach. This way we could see the nuances of differences with each approach. Those who feared reversals have begun to use them with confidence and those who already used reversals expanded their pallette. I would send you the chart we used but I am having some problems with my computer. I just wanted to share what we did. I hope I helped. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. La Vonne |

Maybe for a future meeting, we could discuss the connection between tarot and astrology. I noticed that there was a lot of interest in astrology on the message board.
