I know I'm late updating the description of this meetup ~

At the meetup next week we will be going through some fun, interesting, unique readings together.
I want to discuss briefly some ways that you can design your own reading..........
And, spend some time doing readings for each other.

I have some cool stuff to present and think you'll really enjoy this.

You don't have to know anything about Tarot to attend.
We can help / teach you!

I believe that although this sounds simple, there will be some really exciting & profound things come out of this for each attendee!

Hello Houston Tarot Enthusiasts!!

This month we will begin an exciting series of discussions / teachings on the Court Cards.
At our March meetup, we will begin with Cups Court Cards.

Feel free to join us after work at Jax Grill for some great food, and lively conversation.
Bring a friend, your favorite Tarot deck, pen & notebook and be prepared to learn about these fascinating cards!

We will begin promptly at 7p.m. (note time change)

As always, we will collect a love offering to help offset the expenses of the group.

O.K. ~ here are the details on our upcoming January Meetup!! We will be looking at what the New Year ~ 2009 may hold for us. Feel free to bring a friend if you'd like. This is going to be fun!

We will do this by looking at some spreads that will give us insight, knowledge and hopefully empower us to better know how to handle the year ahead. The main spread that I'm hoping we can work through together as a group is one developed by my long distance Tarot buddies Kevin Quigley and Cory Waletzko.

They designed a New Year Spread that I think you will find very interesting and helpful as we move into the new year!

My goal as we work through these spreads is to provide a reading that is what Mary K. Greer calls "RITE" There are readings that are interactive, transformational and empowering. This is a powerful style of reading Tarot and one that I hope you will appreciate.

It doesn't matter if you are a total beginner or a professional reader. You will be able to learn more about Tarot, how readings work and hopefully gain some helpful insight about the new year.

I also have a few new decks and books that have come out since our last meetup. I guarantee that you will find them intriguing and will want to get your own copy!

Join us for some great food, fellowship, friendship and to learn more about yourself and your year through Tarot. We will have a door prize giveaway and as always collect a love offering to help cover the costs of our meetup.

Hello everyone!

In September we covered the first 11 cards in the Major Arcana. We went from the Fool through the Wheel of Fortune. At our October Meetup, we will start with Justice and go all the way through the World.

As you know, each of these cards depicts a scene, mostly featuring a person or several people, with many symbolic elements. Most decks number each card and provide a name. A whole range of human life and experience is represented in the Major Arcana.

These cards symbolize physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual aspects of life. They are also used to illustrate the strengths, hopes and fears, and weakest parts of an individual. Sometimes they are positive and sometimes they can be negative or provide a caution to us if we don't do something to change our course of action.

Many of the Major Arcana cards show an archetypal figure, or in other words, a figure who is representative of the whole essence of a type of person. Archetypes might include: a warm nurturing mother figure, a strong figure of authority, a formal traditional religious leader, or even a magical, mystical, mysterious person. Archetypes can be representative of real people, whether it be in part or as an abstract symbol in one's life.

At this meetup, we will be covering the following cards: Justice, Hanged Man, Death, Temperance, Devil, Tower, Star, Moon, Sun, Judgement, and World. We could spend weeks on each card......however, this class is meant to provide a general overview of the cards. You will then be able to develop the meanings of the cards further as you work with your own deck.

As we have recently discussed, Tarot classes of this nature are hard to find in the Houston area ~ and would typically cost at least $25 per class. This information is being provided to you ~ the Houston Tarot Meetup Group at no set cost. As always, a love offering will be collected.

If you weren't able to attend last month, don't worry. We will have handouts for you so that you can catch up!

We will have a Tarot related door prize too!!

Bring your cards, your ideas, thoughts and be ready to learn!
